Michael Corcoran is a writer, journalist and media critic. He is a contributing writer at Truthout . He has published news articles, essays, blog posts and book reviews for the Boston Globe, The UK Guardian, the Nation, the Christian Science Monitor, the NACLA Report on the Americas, Extra!, Truthout, Campus Progress, Alternet, CBS News, Z Magazine, Znet, the International Socialist Review, the Burlington Free Press, the Taiwan News, The Nepal Riser, Yahoo News, Common Dreams, the Electronic Intifada, and elsewhere. He focuses largely on media, health care and politics.
Corcoran recently earned a Master's of Science in International Relations from the John McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at UMass Boston, where his research focused on US media coverage of the Middle East. He earned a Bachelor's in Print and Multimedia Journalism at Emerson College in 2007. He is a proud alumni of the Victory S. Navasky Internship Program at the Nation Institute.
In 2009 he was a nominee for Journalist of the Year by the New England Press Association where he also won awards for best history, transportation and government reporting.
