About the Author

I am a writer, journalist and blogger who has published news articles, essays, blog posts and book reviews for the Boston Globe, the Nation, The Christian Science Monitor, Common Dreams, Extra!, Campus Progress, Alternet, CBS News, Znet, The Burlington Free Press and elsewhere. I often writes about foreign policy, media issues, and healthcare.

I graduated from Emerson College with a bachelor's in print and multimedia journalism program. I have worked in a variety of ways for the Boston Globe -- as a researcher, an intern, a correspondent for the op-ed, metro and city weekly sections, and a political blogger for the editorial page. In 2007, I was selected to the Nation Institute Internship program where I co-authored the "Sweet Victories" column wth Katrina vanden Heuvel, which covered successes in the progressive movement. I am currently a correspondent for the Globe's metro section.

I was a finalist for Writer of the Year for the Association of Young Journalists and Writers in 2006. In 2007, I was featured in Emerson College's Expression magazine's "Who's who" in politics in 2007. In 2008, I was nominated for Weekly Journalist of the Year from the New England Press Association; I also won first prize for best history reporting, and other awards for best transportation and economic reporting.

I am earning a Master's of Science in International Relations from the John McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at UMass Boston; My research focuses on the media and the Middle East.
