Although it is a week old, I recently discovered this excellent essay about a reporter who was given the religion beat, and said it has changed his views on religion. Once a commited born-again evangelical, he is now a skeptic.

He writes:

My soul, for lack of a better term, had lost faith long ago — probably around the time I stopped going to church. My brain, which had been in denial, had finally caught up.
